Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys are synonymous with Western Swing music--and just great music period--to this day and thanks to Wills, helped to promote the popularity of the steel guitar, most notably the non-pedal variety.

Wills music, while full of fiddle playing, and even horn sections, is also synonymous with hot-shot steel guitar playing--legendary names like Leon McAuliffe, Bobby Koefer and most notably Herb Remington, who thankfully is still with us and makes the Remington Steelmaster non-pedal guitar.

The video below, filmed later in Wills' carreer, features Bobby Koefer playing a very tasteful Western Swing solo, without looking at his hands--a must see!

At about 1:38 in the above video, Koefer is heard playing a lick based on G minor pentatonic. Here's the TAB for the lick using the E13 tuning, which is most likely what he is using on the far neck....
