8 String Guitar Tuning

The 8 string guitar tuning used most frequently has got to be C6, of which there is a "high" and "low" version...




We're focusing here on the C6 high tuning variant in the video below, which is more common and, in our opinion, best for all around playing in many different lap steel guitar styles.

From lowest to highest strings, it looks like this: A C E G A C E G

This tuning also goes by the name Am7, since when you add in the lower A on the 8th string, you get a perfect Am7 chord--A C E G.
